The programme will take the young people on a journey towards creating their final piece, which is then developed with professional actors and dramaturgical support at the end of the year, before being rehearsed and semi-staged for an invite-only audience.
Deadline for submissions is Monday 15th March 2021

About the Programme
Our year-long Young Playwrights Programme offers a small group of young writers from Dumfries & Galloway the opportunity to develop their work within the theatrical medium, supported and guided by our team alongside a group of playwrights and theatre creatives from across the UK.
Over the course of a year six young people from D&G are encouraged and supported to experiment and develop their voice as playwrights. The programme involves regular workshops with some fantastic playwrights and theatre creatives, visits to see productions, play readings and access to resources, as well as mentoring with Artistic Director Ali Anderson-Dyer and the Bunbanter team.
Working together we support the young playwrights on a journey towards creating their final piece, which is then developed with professional actors and dramaturgical support at the end of the year, before being rehearsed and semi-staged for an invite-only audience.
Bunbanter’s Young Playwrights Programme is created in partnership with Theatre Royal Dumfries and Peter Pan Moat Brae and is funded by The Holywood Trust and Creative Scotland.
It is also supported by the Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland and Dumfries And Galloway Arts Festival.
