Come prepared, expect to be scared, hope to leave. An immersive Halloween experience for over 18s only.

In 2019, in partnership with Grid Iron, Surge and The Stove, we brought this site responsive production to somewhere central and previously forgotten, in Dumfries.

This immersive theatre experience was made possible with funding from Creative Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council Major Events Fund, The Holywood Trust and Dumfries and Galloway Arts Live.

Beneath The Dust was conceived by Bunbury Banter, written by Ali Anderson-Dyer & Roanna Davidson and devised by the company. #BENEATHTHEDUST

Reviews

"“an unusually powerful show… tense and uncanny”"
- Review from Joyce McMillan, the Scotsman
"Beautifully thought through. A good example of how immersive theatre can engage audiences profoundly within a safe and controlled environment, provoking much thought without directly confronting the audience."
- Audience member
"It was like nothing I’ve ever seen in Dumfries. So creative and involving. The whole thing drew such on such powerful cultural roots in the region and put a shiver up my spine and a smile on my face"
- Audience member
"This was a wonderfully interactive and truly immersive event. It really did tap in to all the senses! I’m particularly proud that a production of this type is finally being shown in Dumfries. We’re so fortunate to have The Bunbury Banter Theatre Company here in this region"
- Audience member
"I loved the idea that it was completely secret and no one had any clue what the event was. It really added to the effect. The actors were fantastic and we had a brilliant night. Will definitely come again."
- Audience member
"From the start with the fire torches we knew we were in for a good night. The atmosphere, cast, story was superb and it really drew you in."
